I miss sleeping next to someone. I miss the cuddling. I miss waking up to someone giving me a kiss on the forehead and saying good morning.
The chorus of this song used to be my away message on aim when I went to bed at night. Now it's an homage to From Autumn To Ashes. "Hello, My Name Is Distance. And I Really Don't Care If I Ever Wake Up Again."
Copeland is beautiful.
---
Am I sleeping with my eyes wide
Am I alone?
Am I staring into bright lights
Have I gone home?
I must be dreaming when I'm sitting here
On someone else's throne
Am I sleeping with my eyes wide
Won't you let me know?
Will I wake to find you waiting by my bedside?
Will I wake to find you waiting by my side?
Will I wake to find you waiting by my bedside?
Will I wake to find you waiting by my side?
Am I sleeping with my eyes wide
Am I alone?
Am I following the lines on faces never shone?
I want to see your hairline, your cheekbones
Your red lips on your cell phone
Won't you let me know?
Will I wake to find you waiting by my bedside?
Will I wake to find you waiting by my side?
Will I wake to find you waiting by my bedside?
Will I wake to find you waiting by my side?

inní mér syngur vitleysingur
[Inside Me A Lunatic Sings]
The above is a translation of the title, for those that wanted to know.
As cliché as it sounds, music is the air I breathe. Though most assume I only listen to hardcore or metal, I am actually well rounded when it comes to music. So you can understand this a little more, here is a list of a few of my favorite bands, in no particular order (except the first one. That is my all time favorite band.)
-Norma Jean
-Sigur Ros
-The Mars Volta
-Emmure
-The Faint
-Radiohead
-Animal Collective
-The Secret Handshake
-Kanye West
-City & Colour
As you can see, there’s not one set style of music I enjoy. I suppose you can consider my tastes unusual, or things most people have never heard of before. I will say, though, that I despise country music. It’s annoying to listen to, and it all sounds the same. Rap/Hip Hop is something I’m not in love with, but I’ve grown to be able to stand it.
While writing this, I was listening to/watching the video for the song Hoppipolla by Sigur Ros. Hoppipolla is such a beautiful song. The video for it depicts an elderly group of people acting like kids pranking, jumping in puddles, and enjoying their ‘youth”. Who’s to say they aren’t young? Then can be as young as they want to, because they have lived their life. The comments on this video say exactly how I feel about the band. “It’s truly amazing how one song can give you chills, make you cry, inspire, create hope, love even though you may not know what the songs means. I love this song.” “When I hear this, words like anger, hatred and evil have no meaning, nor do they exist.” The video for this song can be found at the end of this entry.
I will give most music a fair chance before turning it down as what I consider to be crap. I’ll take a listen and determine from there. I’m not one who listens to other peoples judgements on music. I will decide for myself if I like it or not. That is also why I have many guilty pleasure bands. More on those on a later date.
This may all seem like pointless rambling, but I promise there’s a method to my madness. This blog will consist of song lyrics, my feelings on songs, and song/album/show reviews. A movie review or two may sneak it’s way in, but for the most part this will be for music related material only. I will of course welcome comments, and suggestions for maybe a ‘themed’ entry. (one already planned is a guilty pleasure band theme) I’m not quite sure how often this will be updated at the moment. I have plenty of time now, so maybe every day or so you’ll get something, be it a video or song lyrics.
For now I will end with a link to the video for Hoppipolla, as well as a quote from their website. I would encourage you to go watch it. The user who uploaded it disabled embedding, so the link is all I can give you. I hope that you enjoy this as much as I did.
